Shipping policy

This Shipping Policy explains how we produce and deliver your Dear Person Behind Me order. Because every item is made to order, the timeline from purchase to delivery has two parts: production time and shipping time.
Production time
Every Dear Person Behind Me item is made specifically for you after you place your order. Production typically takes 2 to 5 business days before your order is handed to the carrier. During busy periods (holidays, sales, new launches), production may take slightly longer, and we will let you know if there is any meaningful delay.
Shipping time
Once your order ships, you will receive a confirmation email with a tracking number. Estimated delivery times after shipping are:

These are estimates provided by our shipping carriers, not guarantees. Actual delivery times may vary depending on the carrier's workload, customs processing, and conditions in your local delivery network.
Shipping carriers
We use a combination of major shipping carriers depending on your destination and the most efficient route, including (without limitation) Canada Post, USPS, UPS, DHL, and local last-mile partners. We select the carrier; we do not currently offer a choice of carrier at checkout.
Shipping rates
Shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on your destination, the weight of your order, and the shipping method. The rate displayed at checkout is the rate that applies to your order.
International orders, customs duties, and import taxes
For orders shipped outside Canada, your country may charge customs duties, import taxes, brokerage fees, or other charges upon delivery. These charges are the customer's responsibility and are not included in the price you pay at checkout or in the shipping rate. We have no control over these charges and cannot predict their amount, as they depend on your country's customs policies.
If you refuse delivery to avoid customs charges and the package is returned to us, we are not able to refund the original shipping cost, and any return shipping or destruction fees charged by the carrier will be deducted from any refund issued.
Shipping address
You are responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address at checkout, and for ensuring that the address is one where you can safely receive a package. We are not responsible for orders shipped to an incorrect, incomplete, or outdated address that you provided. If a package is returned to us as undeliverable because of an address error, you may be charged for re-shipping.
Once an order has entered production, we cannot change the shipping address. Please verify your address carefully before completing checkout.
Tracking your order
All orders ship with a tracking number, which we send by email when your order leaves production. If you have not received a tracking email within 7 business days of placing your order, please check your spam folder, then contact us through our contact page.
Tracking information is updated by the carrier, not by us, and may take 24 to 72 hours after shipping to show movement.
Delays
Delivery delays caused by the carrier, customs, weather, strikes, or other circumstances outside our control are not grounds for a refund of shipping fees or of the order itself. We will help you investigate any delay by opening a request with the carrier on your behalf.
Lost or undelivered packages
If tracking shows your package as delivered but you have not received it, please first check with neighbours, building staff, household members, and your local post office — packages are sometimes scanned as delivered before they physically arrive, or left in a safe location nearby. If the package still cannot be located, contact us through our contact page within 7 days of the marked delivery date and we will open an investigation with the carrier. Resolution depends on the outcome of that carrier investigation.
Damaged packages
If your package arrives visibly damaged, please photograph it before opening if possible, and contact us through our contact page within 7 days of delivery with the photographs and your order number. We will work with you and the carrier to resolve the issue. See our Refund Policy for full details on damaged or defective items.
